When people get sick, they call a doctor. When their car makes funny sounds, they visit a mechanic. And when they have legal problems, they reach out to attorneys. The first thing they ask is, "How much do you charge?" This is important to know. People don't ask, "What law school did you go to?"
We live in difficult times. When people are hit with legal problems, they may already be in financial difficulty. So the first thing on one's mind is, "How much is it going to cost me to clean up this mess?" The system can be helpful, like the nice people in this video - I DON'T HAVE MONEY. CAN YOU HELP ME?" - Social Experiment in Turkey - https://youtu.be/QXgfOaNrgMo
One option is legal aid societies. These organizations can help with immigration, divorce, debt collection, family law, and other areas. There are also attorneys who volunteer their services on a pro bono basis, working for free on some types of cases. When it comes to criminal matters, there are public defenders.
There are other options as well. Some cases are handled on a contingency. This means the client doesn't pay until the end, after they got their money. We see commercials where law firms advertise that you only pay them if they win your accident case. That's a contingency fee arrangement.
And there are matters that some people handle themselves. There are many self-help resources online and at public libraries. AVUKAT TUTMADAN DAVAMI KENDİM HALLETTİM... VE PARAM CEBİMDE KALDI! https://www.communityabroad.com/turkish/post/1000000050359
